about
An original 16 bar blues song I wrote over last Christmas and New Years holidays. The lyrics and title were inspired by a simple, Tibetan Buddhist & Bon philosophy on the "full experience" of becoming a Buddha. The body, speech and mind are what govern our daily lives, and clearing all three, brings those lives to enlightenment!
This song is dedicated to Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche.
lyrics
I use to get so lost
I use to fall far behind
I kept my fingers crossed
When going over the lines
I drove down endless roads
Always missing the signs
I had to learn to clear
My body, speech & mind
I got fed up at work
Doing the daily grind
People said I was a jerk
But I thought I was kind
I was living fast-forward
Didn't take time to rewind
I had to learn to clear
My body, speech and mind
I loved things so sweet
Like chocolate, women and wine
Then I went on a retreat
Suddenly, those things weren't fine
They kept me from the truth
And reading between the lines
I had to learn to clear
My body, speech and mind
Then I found the right path
The dzogchen way, so refined
Now I sit back and laugh
At fears I left behind
I have a wonderful teacher
So special and kind
He helps me achieve
Complete body, speech and mind
